The Fellowship of the Bloggers (An observation)

Image
DISCLAIMER: This post is just an observation of the writer. You have the right to react or give out your own point of view or idea, but be constructive enough and respect the idea of the writer. After all, this is my blog. Respect is highly recommended. pic from here A well-known blogger texted me and invited me for a meet up (eyeball) with other bloggers one night. Since I do not have the right to name names and since I respect each others privacy and their plea not to   post any pictures from that meet up (at least for 2 months?), let’s just named and hide the blogger who texted me as Ms. Well-Known Blogger. Anyways, I was invited and so I said yes.             I never imagined that on that particular day, I will create a post out of that meet up. This is the second time to be with a group of bloggers but this one was unforgettable. Nothing really fancy happened on that evening, but it’s just a night full of realiza...

Beat the Heat: Preventing Summer Heat Illness

Image
S ummer is really here. You can feel the heat even if its 7 o'clock in the morning. Summer heat waves can be very dangerous. When you are exposed to too much heat your body temperature increases and this can damage the brain and other vital organs. Some health conditions can make it harder for the body to stay cool in hot weather. These include obesity, old age, dehydration, heart disease, fever, drug and alcohol use, etc.           In engaging into summer activities, our health should be our main priority. We should always protect our health when temperatures are very high specially this summer: Drink plenty of water. When it’s hot, drinking plenty of water will help remove toxins from your body through sweating. Drinking water will also keep your body hydrated. You can also drink juice and sport drinks but avoid drinking caffeine (tea, coffee and cola) and alcohol....

Prepare for Battle

Image
You want war, I'll give you war! - V ictoria Valera (Gretchen Barreto, in Magkaribal 2010)      After contemplating and thinking about life and things, I finally decided to go into war. I'll make sure I will put up a good fight. Things will never be the same again, so I need to be physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually ready.       Few months back, I was jobless. I lose hope. I didn't put a good fight. I let the enemy win over me. I'm not ready for that battle. No armor. Defenseless. Weak and alone. But being in that state helps me figure out that life is like a battlefield. You need to be ready in anything and in everything. You don't know what will happen in the future. You don't know who our enemies are so we better be ready for the fight.      Next monthh, a new chapter will start. A new beginning and a new adventure. A new road to travel. A new journey. Its like entering a new battlegr...

Filipino Traditional Games That I Used to Play

Image
games Being an adult gives me less opportunity to play Pinoy games that I enjoyed the most when I was a kid, though nobody stops me from playing it again. However, due to the demands and responsibilities of the job that I am facing, I haven't got much time in doing so. I remember we played games for so many reasons; as pastime, specially in rural areas and during moonlit nights, we usually gathered in plazas, open areas, or main roads, trying different set of games and interacting with other kids in the neighborhood as part of our recreation, socialization and relaxation after a hard day's work. I personally believe that playing games is part of growing up. Some games are challenging. Some are daring. Some are physical, some are intellectually stimulating. Playing games teach us the value of Sportsmanship. I remember that when we play games, we don't have any referees or even coaches to teach us how to play it right. As kids, we made the rules and we abide the rul...

The Death of the 12 Apostles

Image
A Lenten Season Special Post Have you ever wonder how is it to live at the time of Jesus Christ? Did you ask yourself, What if I became one of the disciples of Jesus during the time while he still walks on earth in flesh? I wonder how the disciples handled the persecution, the harassment or the discrimination from people who hate Jesus at that time.   I believe it needs a bigger faith to do what the disciples did and needs a great love to die for someone whom you believe all your life. The 12 disciples suffered a lot of things after the death of Jesus. Though not all of them suffered and died with their faith remained intact, believing that Jesus is the way, the truth and the life.  Here’s how the 12 Disciples died and suffered after the Death of Jesus Christ. Though, the Bible only mentioned the deaths of two apostles, James who was put to death by Herod Agrippa I in 44 AD and Judas Iscariot who committed suicide shortly after the death of Christ.  ...

Can Ex-Lovers be Friends?: An Answer to Lily's Post

Image
pic from here This is an answer to Lily's Corner blog post: Can Ex-Lovers be Friends? I was just browsing and do my blog routine - blog hoping/walking, when I run into Lily's blog (swerte mo Lily may blog promotion ka pa!..Peace!). I was pondering if this really happens in real life. Well, my answer is YES! Honestly, its hard to be friends with your ex-lover specially if the break up cause a great impact or damage in the totality of your personality. Its a case to case basis. A lot of things needs to be considered and I think only those strong people who can be friends with ex-lovers. It happened to me not only once but many times. The process of becoming friends again does not happen overnight. It takes time to heal the wounds and forget the past. Try to consider these things: Make sure that you completely moved on with your failed relationship. This will set you free in case you will see him/her with someone else.  Make sure that you are ready to be friends with him/h...

Conversation with God

Image
However, most of the time, we ask the wrong questions even if the answers are already laid infront of you. We cannot find the answers as we are blinded by questions, blinded by our troubles and our fragile emotion. When I woke up this morning, my mind is full of questions. I know that its not right to question God about what is happening with our lives or with the world. But I did. I ask God: “Where are you when I'm in my deepest trouble? Why have you forsaken me and left me alone with this trouble?" Sometimes, we felt that God seems to be quiet when we pray. He seems to be absent and never listen. As humans, we always think that when we call Him, he never answers. Most of the time, we think that when we ask for help, He never rescues. But that is just the devils snare, for us to believe that God is not there and that He never really helps. God answered and smiled back at me and said... "I never left you... I just watch you fighting, using my Wo...
