Chris Evans is Captain America

by Design Force Inc.
Captain America: The First Avenger will hit cinemas around the world this July 22, 2011. This American Superhero war film is based on the Marvel Comics character Captain America . This films stars Chris Evans as Captain American himself, directed by Joe Johnston and script written by David Self, Christopher Markus, Stephen McFeely, and Joss Whedon. This movie will be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This film is scheduled to be released in 3-D.

The movie will focus on the early days of the Marvel Universe when Steve Rogers volunteers to participate in an experimental program that turns him into the Super Soldier known as Captain America.

I hope Chris Evans will give justice to the role as Captain America. Well, based on his previous movies as superhero, he did a great job as the Human Torch in Fantastic Four and Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.

I'm sure this is a good movie to watch out for!

Things You Can Do When You Experience Afternoon Slump

I always felt sleepy and bored specially after lunch or in the afternoon.  In English, this is what they called "Afternoon Slump". In the Philippines, its what we called "hapontukin" syndrome or the "katamaran" moment due to "wala ng magawa sa office". Sometimes, I always get caught sleeping in my table or station by my boss maybe because she hears me snoring from her office which is just a cubicle away from my table. I really don't understand why I have this afternoon slump even if I have regular sleep schedule.

According to David F. Dinges, Ph. D. associate professor in the psychiatry Department at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in Philadelphi, "This sudden slump is a normal, healthy, expected function of our circadian rhythms, the built-in biological clocks that regulate our sleep/wake systems". He added that there is dip in the middle of the afternoon when sleepiness reappears, our natural nap zone.

So since I have this afternoon slump problem almost everyday, I figured some techniques to prevent me from being caught sleeping or snoring. Here's some:

► Take a walk. You can go outside the office (if possible) or stay in your station and just walk in place. Or better yet, use the stairs in your building and then walk up to the top floor and then go down, still using the stairs.
► Don't skip breakfast as this will creates a big energy gap that you'll feel all day, even if you eat a good lunch.
► Eat a balanced lunch. The ideal lunch is a balance of proteins and carbohydrates. If you really want to fight afternoon slump, you can eat high energy lunch like a combination of fish, pasta, rice, baked potato, fruit salad, vegetables, lean mean or soup.

►  Drink Coffee or Soda. Caffeine is a powerful stimulant but be careful not to overdo the coffee in the morning, the lift you get from more than four cups can send you crashing down in the early afternoon, making the dip even worse. So, just limit your caffeine intake.

► Listen to some music. This is one of the best and effective way so far. I usually listen to those heart beating, non stop jamming music, like a hard core one. Rock and Roll!

► Clean your desk or your mailbox. Delete unnecessary emails or linisin ang desk mo. Itapon ang mga bagay na hindi kailangan. After you clean your desk, dumihan ulit at linisin. In that way, mawawala antok mo.

► Take a look at the pictures of your office mates, like the last group outing that you have or the latest team building, then edit the pictures and then send or put it in your blog. I always do this when I am totally bored and sleepy. In this way it will motivate my mind and will bring out the creativity in you. See some samples below: (DISCLAIMER: Peace to my friends in the picture. Consider this as an opportunity. Be happy and thank me because I featured you all in my blog...Lol ☻☻☻.. Love you guys! ♥♥♥)

Girl 1: Ang sarap ng alon!
Girl 2: Ows talaga? baka naman patatas yan with bbq...
Girl 3: Teka! Parang may kakaiba sa paa ko. Parang magkakabuntot na ako...

Girl 1: Oo nga eh! Ang tagal, Di pa ako nag transform.
Girl 2: Hmpf!
Girl 3: Sa wakas! May buntot na ako! Kayo wala pa!?

Girl 2: Ay ano yun? May fafa oh! Habulin natin ang fafa!
Girl 3: Saan!?

Girl 1: Your wish is my command.

(I know my friends will get mad at me when they know I posted this one.. Hahaha.. But they will surely love it.. Lol)

► One last and best thing you need to do to eliminate afternoon slump is to Run Away from your friends, if you did the tip above. I'm sure, they want to strangle you to death. Just run as fast as you can. Lol.

I believe with these ideas, I can assure you that afternoon slump will surely go away...

The Apotheosis of The Lost Soul

My faith was tested when an incident about keeping confidential information was unintentionally shared to other people. It was a mistake that take a toll on my work and my credibility in keeping confidential information was in question. It was an honest mistake. Unintentional. Unforgiven. And was never given a second chance. The very first incident. The very first mistake. But never the end of my life.

I was put on the spotlight unprepared. Caught unaware. I was like a criminal waiting for his sentence. I was like a prey waiting for his predator to completely devour him to pieces. For a moment I couldn't remember who I am, what are my intentions and dreams. I couldn't remember my purpose. It's like my world stops from spinning, my heart stops from breathing. Is this really happening? Yes! It is happening!

I began asking myself, "What have I done wrong to deserve this attention?". Doubts came in. Fear shook my inner being. Can I really survive the stardom or will it lead me in doom. For a while, I lost myself. I lost my identity. I lost the real me. Then I contemplate and look back on the things that are important, things that are valuable. I evaluate myself if what I've been doing will benefit or help me in the future. There's so much realization. Too many "what if's". If I could only turn back the time I could have done this and that. If I only have the chance to voice out what's inside. If...if...if...

On my way home one night, I reckoned myself, trying to put myself together. I was like a baby started to stand up on his own, learning from his experience. Every people I met I look at their faces, Some looked back at me, some give a smile, but some just have a blunt faces. I imagine, they might have there own burden, there own battles and struggles to win. I do not know what they've been through, they do not know what I've been through but there is only one thing common to us-- we are all climbing our own mountain. I am not alone in this journey. I am not the only one who is experiencing such problem. It might be different from what I have, but its the same burden, same stress and same agony.

As I continue walking that same night, I reached a dark alley where only light from cars and vehicles passing through the other end of that path is visible. Once again, I'm ascertain that there is always light at the end of each road. Hope is coming. A new morning everyday. Its not always rainy season. Sunshine is coming. I was awaken from the harsh reality that life must go on. I need to continue walking so I can see completely the light and the bright side of the alley of life. Once I reach that level, I will be a renewed being. It will give birth to a new me. New hopes and new beginnings.

With this phase of life, I came to a realization that:

► We need to be shaken to be awaken.
► Greater is He that's living in you, than he that is in the world.
► There is always a rainbow after each rain.
► Your not the only one in this world that carry a burden, there's a lot out there who has greater burden that yours.
► Its not the end of the world. Its just the beginning of your journey.
► Give thanks in all circumstances.
► Do not dwell in the past. Look to the future.
► There is always power in Prayer.
► P-U-S-H (Pray Until Something Happen)
► Ask God's guidance and discernment.

Wish you all have a wonderful and fructuous life ahead. †

Pano natin to pinahahalagahan?

The Winner Takes it All". As the common phrase said:

Life is like a game of cards. You did not invent the game, nor did you frame the rules. You have no control over the cards dealt to you, but you are there to play. A good player, even with a bad hand of cards, will play well and emerge a winner. A bad player, even with the best of cards, will play badly and lose. The question is how are we playing it?

Pang-anim, Ang Buhay ay Parang Excel Spreadsheet (Version 2007). Maraming pitak. Kailangan nakahilera.

Kaya habang nasa itaas ka, make the most out of it. Take it as an advantage and opportunity para pag bumagsak ka, may lubid kang nahihila para umakyat muli sa itaas.

May mahaba, may maiksi.

Masarap mabuhay. Life is what we make it, sabi nga nung babaeng nasa likod ko ngayon. Well, maraming surpresa ang buhay.

Take it...Its yours! (Sigaw ng mga kalalakihan sa movie na 300).
In English: "Forgive yourself and Move on".
Nurture yourself physically, mentally and emotionally.
Gets?
  7. Ang pagiging buhay ay sapat na. Live one day at a time. Always leave a good mark everyday so that you have something to look back when you reach the top.
  9. Magpahinga, Magsaya at e-enjoy ang buhay!!!

Lesson Learned from a Cracked Pot

I've read this parable a long time ago about the Two Cracked Pot. The first time I read it brought me in tears because I realize that everything in me is not bad at all. Everything that is in me is made for a purpose. I believe I am wonderfully made for his purpose. I am not ashamed of my physical appearance. I am not ashamed of the flaws that I have for I believe God gave it for a reason. Please read the story and be inspired and motivated.

===============================oOo=============================

An elderly Chinese woman had two large pots , each hung on the ends of a pole , which she carried across her neck. One of the pots had a crack in it while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water , at the end of the long walk from the stream to the house , the cracked pot arrived only half full.
For a full two years this went on daily , with the woman bringing home only one and a half pots of water. Of course , the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments. But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection , and miserable that it could only do half of what it had been made to do.
After 2 years of what it perceived to be bitter failure , it spoke to the woman one day by the stream. "I am ashamed of myself , because this crack in my side causes water to leak out all the way back to your house."
The old woman smiled , "Did you notice that there are flowers on your side of the path , but not on the other pot's side?" "That's because I have always known about your flaw , so I planted flower seeds on your side of the path , and every day while we walk back , you water them. For two years I have been able to pick these beautiful flowers to decorate the table. Without you being just the way you are , there would not be this beauty to grace the house."
Each of us has our own unique flaw. But it's the cracks and flaws we each have that make our lives together so very interesting and rewarding. You've just got to take each person for what they are and look for the good in them.

God bless everyone!

10 Reasons Why We Need To Hope

I received this text message from a friend, "Thanks for sharing, by the way." , with that title above. The message gives me hope and believe that there's always a rainbow after the rain (parang kanta lang). According to Merriam-Webster Dictionary, HOPE means "to expect with confidence". To expect with confidence means TRUST. Hope originates from Old English hopian; akin to Middle High German hoffen to hope. The word was first known use before 12th century.  Anyways, more about the origin of hope, so here's the list why everyone should keep their eyes on hope. I also give some of my inputs with each  reasons.

  1. Whatever happens, God is always in control. God is the creator and the controller of the universe and everything in it, whether animate or inanimate. God controls everything and He can turn nothing into something.
  2. The best is yet to come. God has prepared the very best blessing for you. If you lose something, it means its not yet the best. It means there is much greater and much better coming ahead of you. Don't dwell too much on what is in you right now, think of what is to come. If you are down or despair, if you lose your job or was fired, it means, there is something greater.
  3. The story isn't finished yet. In every book, there's always a different chapter, each chapter contains different stories, each story is not always about negative or about being so down or defeat. There is always a beautiful story to tell and it will still be written wonderfully and perfectly for you.
  4. God has not given up on you, so don't give up on Him. I remember what the Bible tells about this in Hebrew 10:38 -- Now the just shall live by faith: BUT IF ANY MAN DRAW BACK, MY SOUL SHALL HAVE NO PLEASURE IN HIM. Evidently, God will not give up on us even if we fail HIM most of the time, so never never give up on HIM. Giving up on God is not our Right. Giving up on Him will be our greatest downfall.
  5. There is a purpose in your pain. No one wants pain. As much as possible we do everything to avoid it. But no matter how hard we try we will always get hurt, we will always hurt someone. The Bible reveals that God is not the author of pain-- evil is. His design was to be at peace in relationship with Him. But sin enter the world and with it comes suffering. God didn't leave us alone sometimes human does leave God, thats why we are reminded on  item # 4 by not giving up on Him. God didn't leave us alone with your pain, that's why He created miracles for us to rejoice! The joy is not that we are in pain or hurting, but rejoicing in the sense that its not the ending. Maybe the pain that you are experiencing might be the avenue for you to rejoice exceedingly for that beautiful end. Always remember that God sent His only Son (Jesus) to bring us to eternal peace where the pain can no longer touch us.
  6. You are loved. Your family, friends and most specially God -- loves you! Whether you believe it or not, somebody loves you.
  7. God is not deaf not to hear your cries.  I agree with this statement, but in crying out to God we should also remember that God will not listen if we cherished sin in our hearts (Psalms 68:18). I now understand why we need to ask, seek and pray for forgiveness so that God will listen to us. I believe its a requirement to clean our hearts first from sin so that God can enter into it and will hear our supplication.
  8. You are not facing this alone. God is with you. God is everywhere. He knows every intention. He knows your heart's desire. In every battle that we encounter God is there. We sometimes feel all alone and we are facing the fight all by ourselves, but try to check your heart, did we really ask God to fight with us? Did we really hold on to our faith that God will deliver us? I remember the story of David and Goliath in the Bible. Imagine how big Goliath compared to David. But God didn't leave David alone. God is with him all the time. God is with us every minute of every single day of our existence.  God will fight with us every time we face goliath's in our lives. All we need to do is Trust and Have Faith.
  9. This is a victorious battle. Claim that we are Victors! We are Conquerors! All we need to do is ask God for the complete battle gear so that when facing goliaths we will be victorious, for no weapon form against us will prosper for the battle is the Lord and believe that He will never fail. So start singing the victory song for the Battle is the Lord.
  10. Do not fear about tomorrow, for God is already there. God already designed your future. It is already written. Done. Remember that God is the Alpha and the Omega. The Beginning and the End. He is the same Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow.

I believe that having this type of spirit, hope will always prevail and that Faith will always be in our hearts. Keep the Faith amigos!

Steps on How to Take a Relaxing Bath

Taking a bath is one of the most enjoyable things I love to do almost everyday. Sometimes, i take a bath about 3 or 4 times in one day, depending on how I feel. Baths are enjoyable, whether your doing it  as a way of cleansing yourself on a daily basis or just to relax. Personal hygiene is important so that we can maintain a good image to our community and in the eyes of people we interact everyday. Personal hygiene, like properly taking a bath, can gain better self image and self confidence.

Some say take taking a bath is evident, but most of them we only know the first time we learn to take a bath.

  1. Take off your clothes and put them neatly in a clothes bin or just pile it neatly. Prepare your tub (if you have one). Make sure that the door is close and locked!
  2.  Fill your tub with water. If you don't have a bath tub, be creative if you want a relaxing bath, you can get a big bucket where you can fit in, or you can use the back of a pick up truck or if you have kids at home, use a portable pool. Just keep in mind that when you dive into that portable tub or bath tub, water will ascent. Please converse water.  If you are taking a bath before bedtime, its good to plan it, like taking a bath 90 minutes before bedtime to promote sleep.
  3. If your planning to add bath salts, its good to add them in the bath tub prior to taking a bath, so that they dissolve completely. Use one cup on every 60 pounds you weight.
  4. Choose your water temperature. Cold baths have appeal to some, but most prefer to relax with a hot bath. You can keep track of the temperature with a thermometer. You can set it to about a 100 degree Fahrenheit which is ideal for relaxing muscles.
  5. While your tub is filling, you can take a body brush or loofah and brush your skin from your feet to your neck with upper strokes. This will loosen dead skin and expel your body toxins.
  6. Deep a clean wash clothe in a cold water and lay it aside on the tub. You can use put this on your forehead if you start to feel too hot.
  7. Just before the tub is filled, you can add a little extras to the water like a diluted essential oil, fresh or dried herbs tide in a piece of muslin or cheese cloth, 1 or 2 cups of powdered milk, or even a few bottles of beer added to the water, this is actually being used on some spas in Czech Republic. (Milk contains lactic acid that loosen dead skin).
  8. Make your tub time special by lighting candles, putting on some music or get a bottle of champagne or wine.
  9. Get into the bath tub (slowly if it's hot). Submerge yourself up to the neck so as not to drown. You can dunk your head, but remember if its too hot, don't!.
  10. Relax. Close your eyes and enjoy your bath. If you'd like, you can use soap or shampoo to wash yourself, but remember bath water will be full of dirt and soap after you do.
  11. Toward the end of your bath, vigorously rub your skin with a wash cloth or loofah.
  12. Take a quick cold shower to rinse off and tighten skin.
  13. Apply moisturizer while your skin is still damp.
  14. Drain your bath and dry off.

WARNING:  Pregnant woman should not take hot baths.

The Audition

A lesson learned from my Nephew

I got the chance to take a week leave from work last three weeks for Davao. Its a mixed emotion  though, as the original reason of taking a leave is to attend my Best friend's wedding, but  I didn't realized that its my Father's birthday on that same day. However, I'm excited to see my nephew after haven't seen him for a long time.

Living and working away from my family and relatives makes me feel I am not part of my family anymore. I felt that I don't know them. I felt like I'm a stranger to anyone in the house, though I constantly take a leave for a short vacation from time to time or if there is an opportunity. Sometimes, they tend to joke around that I really cannot catch up. I know its just a feeling but I cant help it, that's what I feel.

The first thing I did when I arrived is to see my nephew.  I know he wont recognized or remember anything about me. The first thing I have the chance to takes care of him is when he is about a few months old. He is turning two years old this November. Unlike before, the only interaction I can get from him is just his cry if his hungry or if its time to change his diapers, his smiles when I tried to make him laugh with my voice and facial expressions, which I am not sure if he can barely recognized my face. Right now, its different. He's grown up. he can walk. He can even do "baby talk" which makes me smile.

His father is singing the same old kids songs we used to sing at church when we were little kids. I couldn't imagine that my nephew already knew those songs and it blown me away as he do some actions of those songs.

I was just starting at him while his singing and dancing and  recognized how he grew so fast. Seeing those veridical smiles and how he moves his hands up and down and those cute little teeth shines every time he opens his mouth. By the way, If I didn't mentioned that he is a premature baby. So fragile and minuscule at that time. But right now he is such an amazing kid.

In the middle of the song, he stopped and then stare at me and then to his eyes rolled into each and everyone inside the room, when he noticed that I am the only one who is just merely looking at him. I then went closer to me with his genuine smile and grab my hands and then pull me off my chair. He seems whats me to dance and sing with him. So I did and that brings the smile back into his face.

This lesson, is applicable to us Christians. Most of us are just watchers on what God has been doing in the Christian world. He always love to watch and look people around us sharing and spreading the good news. We love hearing people preach the gospel but God wants us to do something as well. God wants us to act and share and not just a happy watcher. God wants each one of us to go into the world and share the good news. As my nephew is not happy seeing you, just seating and looking on what others have been doing. God wants to grab our hands and pull out from our chair so we will also share. Its nice and good to share the gospel together. I believe that God is coming so very soon. But, I also believe that He cant come back as long as people in the entire world will not hear the Good News. I believe that sharing the gospel will give us the smile of God. So preach preacher!

Teachers: Our Modern Day hero

"What nobler employment, or more valuable to the state, than that of the man who instructs the rising generation" -- Marcus Tullius Cicero

TEACHING: AS PROFESSION

There is no other profession like teaching. It can be very exciting, depressing, rewarding, exhausting and can be extremely fun. Teaching is a very demanding career to choose. It is also the most rewarding one. A person who will choose to become a teacher someday should understand and know the importance of imparting something to your students. Teaching means giving something that will shape the minds of the children like how to write and read, discover how plants grow and understand math problems. Choosing to teach is choosing to make a difference in the lives of the future generation. Teaching means showing love of learning and dealing with discoveries. It means giving the children an avenue or tool they can use so that they can also discover on their own.

Teachers nowadays should be ready in every aspect of their lives. As the world grows, where competition is high, Teachers should also innovate themselves.  Teachers should be willing to learn new techniques and skills in order to be competent with the world. Teachers should be aware that in conveying love for learning to children is not that easy. As we all now, technology somehow hinders the love for learning if not properly used. Children are more focus on the technology like PSP, internet games, computers, Cable TV Shows, and the likes. Children are more interested in what they can do on the computer than what they can get from school. With this, Teachers should also innovate in such a way the children will get interested in learning things at school.

Teacher should also play a different role in the classroom: educator, guide, counselor, facilitator, moderator, coach, disciplinarian and motivator. They should also be ready for the demands outside the classroom: computing grades, making lesson plans, doing visual aids, checking papers and some other school related which they cannot do inside the class. They should also be prepared in playing a role within the team: combine efforts and ideas with their mentors, colleagues, supervisors, as well as parents to create a good environment conducive for learning and to develop new skills and techniques in Teaching. They should also continue to upgrade or update tin learning new things and techniques and should always find a way to encourage students to learn to reach their full potential. As what is stated in the Preamble on the Code of Ethics for Professional Teachers, they should possess technical and profession competence in the practice of their noble profession.

TEACHERS IN THE PHILIPPINES

Teachers in my country, are considered as the modern day heroes. They are the ones who gave their lives just to provide the right education needed by the children in any parts of the country. They shoulder a very difficult task of providing a better education to the country's future leaders.

In a society where close family ties is important, some might agree to this and some may not, but teachers consider the classroom as their second home or family, they consider their students as their second children. Many stick to the profession for many years as they consider it as a very rewarding one. Despite and in spite of the situation the Philippines is facing in terms of education, teachers still stick to profession they ought to do.

Dr. Irma Makalinao, a professor of Pharmacology and Toxicology of the College of Medicine of the University of the Philippines-Manila said teachers are not just modern day heroes because they sometimes have to be the “master showman.” “Because even on days when they have their own personal pain, teachers report to their respective classrooms while they muster enough courage to draw a smile from within and be ready to once more touch the hearts and minds of their students.

A teacher I met from one of the seminars I attended when I was still a teaching 4 years ago, shared she didn't consider teaching under a Mahogany tree but it gives her the opportunity to show that a teacher should be versatile and that it also challenged her as its exactly opposite from where she came from (she is teaching in a private institution prior to teaching in a public school). She mentioned that it didn't stop share her knowledge as their is no more rewarding than seeing her students in the future who becomes professionals knowing that in one way or another she is one of the reason why they reach their goal and their full potential.

TEACHERS FOR ABROAD

A teacher from Naga Central School in Naga City Philippines, turned down offer to teach in an International School abroad. Even though her passion is to teach but her heart is for the Filipino children. She quote, "I am satisfied with what I am doing, and at the end of the day, I could smile".

Its sad that a big numbers of teachers exchange their homeland for a job abroad. Foreign countries benefited the expertise of our teacher which we should be the one getting all the education they give. I cannot blame why a lot of teachers consider working abroad than teaching in the country. I also salute those teachers, who better stick to our homeland and be hero we need today. I also consider this as an option, up until today. I have a heart for Filipino children and to teach them the good education they need. However, a lot of things needs to be considered. I might be bias on what I wrote her but I think our government should do something about this problem. Literacy rate has been improved rapidly in the past years and if the government will not do anything to stop our teachers from going out, we might see, one day, that this country is a barren wasteland. Teachers on the other hand, should make the most of what is available at hand like lack of facilities and textbooks. But I believe that this is just a minor problem, since this is were teacher's creativity and innovativeness comes out.  I think we should also give chance to our government to do their work as we also do ours. We need to help each other in promoting better education for our future leaders.

Our country needs more excellent teachers, the kind who would inspire students to achieve their potential.   Encouraging more students to go into a teaching profession as our country needs good teacher to uplift the quality of education.

Lastly, I was inspired by my classmate in high school who is now a teacher. I admire him by how he handle things as a Teacher. Teaching in a remote area here in the Philippines is not that easy.Imagine a place where there is no electricity, no means of transportation but only through riding a horse, no comfort rooms for sanitation, waters is taken from a very old reservoir that needs to be repaired and maintained, school building has only 2 or 3 rooms for about a hundred or more children,  people living in the area are aeta and manobos, or indeginious people,  and teachers lounge is made of old lumber and grass. You see the picture now? He is teaching in that area in a remote area in Davao City, Philippines. I was motivated by his dedication in empowering kids with knowledge and information.

A teacher should possess compassion for children and on teaching. One should be ready in giving up his/her own self to give to others, a kind who always makes learning as a joy.
